Yellow Balau is a durable, heavy hardwood, that closely resembles teak, from south east Asia which is becoming a popular timber for outdoor use. It is a tight-grained wood with no knots and an even grain which helps to reduce twisting and warping. It is naturally resistant to insect and fungal infestation.
Its untreated colour is golden/yellow/brown or slightly reddish brown which will naturally age to a dark silver colour when exposed to the elements over a period of time. If treated regularly with deck oil, the grain of the balau will be brought out and the original colour of the timber will be retained.
